Assessment Diorama

I realize that my diorama was not for art, but the assignment really got my artistic juices flowing. I am tired of writing papers, taking exams and recording notes, so this assignment was an avenue to express a little of who I am. Here is my artistic statement. The diorama has 6 holes, you use a flashlight to look into the holes where you will find an assessment tool; test, rubric, report card etc. Each assessment represents a snapshot of where that child is at that time. It sheds a little light on what the child knows, but it is not until you open the lid of the box can you see all the assessment tool, representing all the assessments of that child. It is after you have analysed all the artifacts that you can begin to understand what that child knows and understands.

Love your idea Bev - way to go. Myself I couldn't wrap my mind around anything other than a poster - my hats off to you for pulling it off.

I was impressed and how you presented it was an nice piece of storytelling. Curiosity of little holes on all side of the box and the profound sight as you open the lid to see all of it at once. Really well done.

Bev, I am so impressed with your Diorama. I never new about dioramas until this year - and here you created one, not for art but for an academic course - wonderful! Your creative spirit will shine when you are a teacher. I hope my kids could be in your class...

Thank you all for your comments. Linda you gave me the best compliment anyone could ever give a teacher. Thank, from the bottom of my heart.

I love that you are using the term "creative spirit" as part of your vocabulary among yourselves. It's hard to recognize and encourage something that doesn't have a name...but now it does!
