Many of you have seen this game I created, but I wanted to show Willow. This is a music/SS/LA unit. It is called "Instruments Around the World." It teaches the history of instruments regarding communication. The game is played by each child picking an instrument for their game piece. They then pick cards from a pile. There are four piles designed for 4 levels of reading. The cards have statements about instrument. eg. Made in Africa. They would then move to the next instrument that was made in Africa
I made the game by taking a world map, downloading pictures from the internet and pasting them on the map. The whole map is laminated. I arranged the pictures so that the path meanders around the continents. The first one to the end is the winner.
I have made centers and lesson plans that also revolve around the topic of instruments as communication.
I found I had a few glitches after playing the game. One pile of cards seems to just keep certain groups going in circles. I will remake that groups cards to ensure every group has equal access to winning.

Bev! Wow! I always wanted to see the game set up for the ESL unit plan. And now I have. :) I'm so proud of you! You worked so hard on it, as you work so hard on other assignments. You have lots of talent and I'm so glad that you're willing to share it. I also appreciate your comments in class (in all of course classes). A part of growing is sharing ourselves and who we are. I love your creative, loving energies! :)
Hey Bev, great, I thought this game was very very neat. PLUS, very creative and interesting... im glad you posted it. Im a geography person... and I loved the connections and the motivation this game would give me to play just by the very fact you have the world behind it to look at. Its music, its geography, its ESL, and from what I saw and heard its alot of fun, AND its AUTHENTIC (e.g., offers difference.. something new)... and we are all about authentic learning this day in age! Go Bev, cia,
Incredible! I wish we had taken time to play a demonstration game in class. I am happy with the class but it is always so rushed...so much of what all of you have to offer can't be shared. So, great to have this extra forum, complete with photos. I havn't ever posted a video but if you learn how I hope you'll teach me.
